Title : Assessment of the serum levels of chemerin and Omentin in among Iraqi patients as early Predictors markers of the Severity COVID-19
Abstract :

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a worldwide epidemic generated by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 coronavirus ((SARS-CoV-2)). The cell entry system of COVID-19 is stimulated by the viral spike protein bonded to the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 receptor. Adipokines' actions contribute to infection pathogenesis. The researchers wanted to look at levels of chemerin and omentin in COVID19 patients, including linkage among both adipokine, the severity of disease (mild, severe, critical). Chemerin and omentin are reported to have inflammatory and metabolic effects, and have been implicated in the development of chronic diseases. However, results are still limited regarding role of chemerin in chronic diseases. Chemerin and omentin in COVID19 patients suggest that these adipokines have a role in influencing disease severity. Chemerin and omentin are reported to have inflammatory and metabolic effects, and have been implicated in the development of chronic diseases. However, results are still limited regarding the role of chemerin in chronic diseases. Our study focused on Chemerin, and Omentin levels in COVID-19 patients to demonstrate a roles in influencing disease severity. This is a case-control study design consisting of COVID-19 patients before any treatment was recruited from the Intensive Care Unit hospitalization ICU department of the AL-Amal Hospital in AL-Najaf City, Iraq compared with apparently healthy volunteers as control group. The patients were divided into three groups: mild/moderate, severe, and critically ill cases. The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit used to measure plasma chemerin and Omentin levels in all patient groups. COVID-19 patients' clinical symptoms, diagnostic tests, and outcomes were studied chronologically. Serum chemerin was significantly increased in COVID-19 patients but Omentin concentrations was significantly decreased compared to healthy volunteers (2.1± 0.48 and 5.65± 2.7;P < 0.05 vs. 1.36± 0.49 and 11.43± 2.42; (P < 0.050) respectively). The serum chemerin was significantly higher but and Omentin levels was significantly lower in critically ill patients than that in severe patients cases (P < 0.00010). Circulating chemerin and omentin levels are early predicators markers It has been linked to the severity of COVID-19 disease, may be risk of death in COVID-19 patients.

Title : Correlation between sperm Parameters with hormonal profile in infertile patients
Abstract :

To investigation the correlation between reproductive hormones (FSH, LH and Testosterone) with the semen parameters (semen volume, sperm concentration, sperm motility and normal morphology percent) of infertile patient. The study was carried out in the Fertility Center in AL-Sader Medical City and local laboratories, through January 2022 to April 2022. Semen samples were obtained from fifty (50) infertile men. The Parameters for the semen analysis were analyzed and classified according to the WHO criteria (WHO, 1999). Patients should give their semen for analysis in the laboratory by masturbation. All patients should have at least two separate samples to be analyzed, the second sample collected by blood aspiration and used the centrifuge to separated the serum, the VIDAS® device is used to determine the hormones rate. The significant negative correlation (P<0.05) for two hormones the follicle stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone with all Sperm parameters, in addition to that the significant positive correlation (P<0.05) between testosterone hormone and all sperm parameters: Semen volume (r= 0.211) Sperm concentration, (r=0.612), Progressive motility Percent (A+B) (r=0.355) and normal morphology percent (r=0.312) respectively. Increase Levels of LH and FSH hormones as well as to decrease levels of testosterone negatively affect the sperm parameters of infertile Patients.

Title : The sequence of IL-1β gene in patients with Helicobacter pylori infections
Abstract :

Helicobacter pylori is one of a risky bacteria that may lead to cancer. In this study, a total of 120 patients infected with H. pylori bacteria attended Baghdad Teaching Hospital during the period from 1st February to 15 September 2021. The Ages between (20-31) was more infected than other ages. The level of H. pylori among females 67 (55.3 %) was higher than males 53 (44.7%) with no significant difference (P>0.05). The mean BMI ± SD among the control group was (29.48 ± 5.33) and among patients was (27.99 ± 4.55), and the hypertension rate among patients was (23.3%) and among the controls was (16.4%). The prevalence rate of Diabetes mellitus among the patients was (13.7%), while it was (9.1%) among the controls, The thyroid dysfunction rate was (5.11%) among the patients, while it was (3.6%) among the controls. However, the renal/liver disease rate among the patients was (3.3%), but it was (9.1%). the association between SNPs of IL1B gene (T-31C) and infection with H. pylori. There was a significant association between H. pylori infection and T-31C (P<0.05). There was a significantly higher frequency of TT genotype in the patient’s group (50.4%) in comparison with the control group (38.88%), and there was an association between homozygotes TT state and the higher H. pylori infection risk in comparison with other genotypes. PCR was used for amplification of IL-1β gene, specific primers were used. The product was amplified with 240bp in region (TC; dbSNP: rs1143627).

Title : Study of the changes of some biochemical parameters of patients with renal failure
Abstract :

Failure of the kidneys to eliminate waste materials and maintain an internal balance of water and salts in the body is referred to as renal failure. In this research, individuals with renal failure were studied from March to July 2021 at the Al-Hakim Hospital in Al-Najaf, Iraq. This study included 40 samples of patients (males) with kidney failure, aged (20-70) years old, and the different variables compared with the same variables in 40 healthy (non-affected) males. During this study, some hematological variables examined, which included the concentration of hemoglobin, and biochemical variables in the blood such as the concentration of albumin. Patients with renal failure at Al-Hakim Hospital in Saudi Arabia were studied to determine the most significant physiological changes associated with renal failure and to compare the findings with local and worldwide results. In patients with renal failure, the hemoglobin concentration was found to be significantly lower (P-value 0.05) than in healthy individuals. An albumin level drop of 0.05-0.0% was shown to be statistically significant. When it comes to kidney function, individuals with renal failure had significantly higher levels of urea, creatinine, and uric acid (05.0 P-value), as well as lower levels of calcium ions (05.0 P-value) in their blood than healthy people. Chronic renal illness has been shown to have a detrimental influence on the majority of physiological and biochemical variables examined in this research when compared to healthy individuals, according to the findings.

Title : Correlation of Primary Tumor Size with Lymph Nodal State and Histologic Grade as Prognostic Factors in Breast Carcinoma in Iraqi Patients
Abstract :

This research aims to study the histological grade of breast adenocarcinoma and state of lymph node involvement, and correlating them with primary tumor size to assess if the latter can aid as guideline in deciding surgical option for treatment. This study was implemented immunohistochemistry laboratories of Al-Sadder Teaching Medical City in Al Najaf during the period from September 2020-september 2021, forty-four women with breast carcinoma who undergone modified radical mastectomy were involved in this study, aged between 29 -81 years, mean age being 47.3 years. we divided study group into two categories; depending on tumor size, with cutoff point of 2 cm. Histological grade and lymph nodes metastases were assessed and comparison done between these two groups. Majority of cases in our study were histologically grade 3(68.18%), each of grade 1 and 2 constituted 15.9%. Lymph node metastases noticed in 63.63%. Our results showed a significant difference between the two patient groups regarding axillary lymph node metastasis (P<0.05), but no statistically significant difference found between the two patient groups regarding histological grade (P>0.05). Many of the tumors in Iraqi patients are rapidly progressive, and therefore need a modern approach in their treatment and that tumor size can't be considered as dependable parameter in determining the type of surgical operation.
